SCARY

As most of you know, I love horror movies. I always have and probably always will. Just give me a slasher with a hockey mask, a cursed house on a hill, or some sinster monsters--I will be the first one there to see the film and let you know how I feel about it. I don't think the year is starting off too well. DRAG ME TO HELL was fun, but it really wasn't too scary. I did enjoy THE ORPHAN (that little girl should get an Oscar for her role), but what else does the future hold for us?
1. The Collector
2. Rob Zombie's Halloween 2
3 The Final Destination 3-D
4. The Stepfather
5. The Hole 3-D
6. The Carriers
7. Jennifer's Body
8. Night of The Demons
9. District 9 (which I thought was sci-fi..)
10. Trick R Treat
The only one that seems interesting is Trick R Treat. Am I wrong?

FAT

I just wanted to share my good news about my weight loss. Since starting the program I have lost 28 lbs and now weigh a total of 205 lbs! I'm really proud of myself. My goal is to be 195 lbs, but I am willing to go lower!

Before my pal Vyktor destroys this movie (and sadly all of the
ones he did not like were bombs. I think this one looks interesting.

CHILDREN

I really used to love INFINITY INC. as a child. I always liked the idea of super heroes having children to fight crime was sort of neat. I'm happy we still get to see POWER GIRL, NUKLON (Now ATOM SMASHER) HUNTRESS (although I know is a very different character now) and Obsidian(who is in the Justice Society title, but never appears!) Those were the days...

THE DEAD WILL RISE

I have to admit that I thought that Marvel Comics' DARK REIGN was going to be the summers biggest book. It was fun and I really became invested in the characters. DC Comics had nothing really to offer, as I found the return of THE FLASH to be incredibly slow and boring. Then I come across THE DARKEST NIGHT from DC Comics. It was fast paced, the art was incredible, and zombie super heroes is really spooky! Check this title out!

G-FORCE

All I can say is DIVA!

SHE'S A LADY!

VALKYRIE--not only one of my favorite members of THE DEFENDERS, but such a cool character that no one seems to be using anymore. Bring back THE DEFENDERS!

G R E E D Y

I have to admit that I am very disappointed that I will not be going to Comic-Con this year. With that said, I have been looking at various toy companies and E-Bay to still get my hands on some toy exclusives. Now before I begin my rant, let me first say that I realize that companies/E-Bay have to have people wait in those awful lines for the toys, but some of the prices that I have been seeing is ridiculous.
1. THE INVADERS BOX SET--it comes with Namor, Red Skull, Torch, and Captain America. At the convention, the price is $39.99, but various toys stores and E-Bay are starting off at $65.00-$110.oo
2. Classic Captain America is being sold at the comic-con for $9.99. I actually won the item and paid $20.oo (not counting shipping.
3. Soundwave: I just had to have him. At the con, he is being sold at $49.99. I paid $81.08
Please don't get the impression that I have had bad experiences with these types of groups. Some charge you what the original price was and some might make it $5.00 higher. I understand they need to make money, but this is getting out of hand..

No! No! No!

OH MY LORD! Tell me that this is a sick joke!
"Got an unconfirmed rumor that at Leavesden Studios - there's been some Warner Bros. screen testing on GREEN LANTERN and that Justin Timberlake was suiting up for the test. That does not mean that JT is going to be Hal Jordan, but just that he's one of the guys that they've been seriously considering for the role of our Emerald Knight."

WAR

I just cannot believe that this year is the 25th
anniversary of SECRET WARS! I still love this series and re-read every so often. I couldn't wait for my dad to take me to 7-11 for a slurpee and a comic! So many things took place in the 12 issue series--some good and some not so good. I'll let you be the judge of these events.
1. Colossus falls in love with an alien and ends his relationship with Kitty. As a child, this devastated me.
2. The new Spider Woman makes her debut and becomes a big with readers, but sadly after the series ended Marvel really couldn't find a place for her.
3. Klaw returns from the dead!
4. To celebrate the 25th anniversary the Marvel Universe Action Figures are offering two figures in one collection. The first one is Wolverine and Human Torch (I'm fine with Torch, but do we need another figure?). The next is Captain America and Klaw (which I think is a really good villain pick), and finally--Spiderman (are you surprised?) and Thunderball (which REALLY shocks me!). If it were up to me, I would have picked Mister Fantastic and Doctor Doom, Hawkeye and Klaw (or the Lizard). My final choice would be She-Hulk and Titania.
5. A brand new CAPTAIN MARVEL minimate will be debuting in Fall 2009.

GREEN IS GOOD

I thought I would introduce my new GREEN LANTERN that I got today!

No Comic-Con

It is with a tear in my eye when I tell you that Tim and I will not be going to Comic-Con International this month. We reviewed our finances and my mental condition (which is getting better I think), and we realized just how EXPENSIVE the trip was going to be. The exclusive toys that I wanted I have already bought from EBAY, so we wouldn't have had to wait in line if we went. Maybe next year..

THE END OF HORROR

We had our first "movie club" meeting at BARNES AND NOBLE this past Wednesday night. It was really nice and everyone was quite friendly. A lot of people were talking about how sick they were of the remakes/new take on the horror classics. Although I enjoyed the Rob Zombie version of HALLOWEEN, it will NEVER scare me as much as the original did. I liked both MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D and the new FRIDAY THE 13Th--just because I thought they were fun. Although I am looking forward to the new A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, I already know what to expect and where the scares are going to be. That's why I have really enjoyed some of the straight to DVD movies, because even though they might be crap. Last night I watched MIDNIGHT MOVIE (which I bought at Wal-Mart for $7.50) and thought it was actually really good. The final question of the night was "Where do you see the horror movie genre going?" and I thought of a few things:

1. I think the zombie craze will be coming to a close by the end of the year.
2. All HOSTEL type movies will finally come to an END.
3. I think we are going to see a lot of horror films coming from Europe.
4. I don't believe that we will see any new horror icons (Jason, Freddy, etc) for a long while.
5. TWILIGHT is not a fucking horror movie.
